Met Éireann predicts scattered showers for the weekend as chilly temperatures continue

Scattered showers will continue into this weekend, with Met Éireann forecasting a cool and unsettled end to April.

Sunny spells are expected this afternoon and evening with well scattered showers, some heavy.

The best of the sunshine will be in the east of the country later on with highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees before dropping to lows of -1 to 3 degrees overnight.

Showers will die away early tonight with long clear spells following, though a touch of frost can be expected.

Saturday will kick off the weekend with some sunny spells and isolated showers in the east and northwest of the country.

They will become more scattered as they feed across the country with highs of 9 to 12 degrees before dropping to -1 to 3 degrees.

It will be a dry, chilly night on Saturday before sunny spells and scattered showers return on Sunday.

Cool temperatures will continue throughout the day, with highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light northwest to west winds.

Outbreaks of rain will develop in the west and spread eastwards overnight with some locally heavy falls on higher ground in the west and southwest.

Monday will be wet and cloudy with widespread outbreaks of rain that could turn heavy at times as it spreads across the country through the morning.

Showers will follow through the evening as temperatures reach highs of 9 to 12 degrees and drop to 3 to 7 degrees overnight.

Current indications for Met Éireann suggest another wet day Tuesday with further spells of rain, heavy at times in the south and highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degree.
