UL Bohemian’s back-row Jane Clohessy followed in her father Peter’s footsteps by winning the Energia All-Ireland League (AIL) yesterday.

Thirty-one years after Peter ‘The Claw’ was part of what is still Young Munster’s only AIL success, Jane played a key role in Bohs winning their first title in six years.

Jane has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Bohs and Munster. The 25-year-old, who wasn't born when the Cookies won the AIL in 1993, will now hope to kick on and play for Ireland, which her dad did 54 times as a hard-nosed prop.

Following Jane’s Munster debut last year, Peter joked on Instagram: “The boys couldn't [play for Munster], so I suppose Jane had to. Proud day."

The Clohessy family had even more reason to celebrate at the Aviva Stadium yesterday, with Jane marking the first women’s AIL final to be held at the home of Irish rugby with a towering display that helped Bohs get the better of Railway Union by a scoreline of 48-38.
