A driver in north Wexford was searched during an operations day which was being carried out by Gorey gardaí on Thursday, April 18.

€100 worth of cannabis was found in the woman’s car who was stopped in Raheenagurren.

The woman was in her 20s and she was let off with an Adult Caution as she took ownership of the substance and has no previous offenses. The woman will return to Gorey Garda station in the coming weeks where the local Garda Superintendent or Garda Inspector will decide whether or not to issue an adult caution.

The Adult Cautioning Scheme was introduced in Ireland in 2006 as an alternative to prosecution in cases where there is evidence that the person has committed the offence but the prosecution of such an offence is not in the public interest.
