Hollywood stars Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are currently filming a new movie in Dublin.

The powerhouse duo are in the capital for a movie being directed by Dundalk filmmaker John Carney.

Their presence here throws more light on Jonas's recent random pop up in Dublin restaurant Rosa Madre.

The Jumanji and Welcome To The Jungle star posed for a picture with staff there earlier last month.

Jonas has now been joined in Ireland by Ant-Man star Paul Rudd.

They are here to film musical comedy Power Ballad, which is being directed by Once and Sing Street's Carney.

The flick will chart the story of a wedding singer (Rudd), a rock star (Jonas), and the song that comes between them.

Rudd (55) has recently been promoting his new film Ghostbusters - Frozen Empire, and revealed during its campaign publicity that he loves Ireland so much he has built his own Irish bar in his home in America.

Carney has written the movie script alongside Peter McDonald (The Bachelor Weekend), and it's due to be unveiled at the upcoming Cannes film festival.

"I’m delighted to be working with so many great people,” Carney told Deadline. "I’ve been working on this script with my buddy Peter for years, and now Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are in my kitchen.”

Alex Walton of production company WME said they are delighted to come on board.

"We are so excited to bring John Carney’s next film to Cannes," he said " John has a magic ability to weave great music into wonderfully engaging and universally relatable stories that make audience emotions run high.

“Power Ballad is fun and heartwarming – themes that audiences crave today. His unique vision, coupled with the global appeal of Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, will give buyers exactly what they’re looking for.”

Carney is former bassist for the Irish rock band The Frames, Carney specialises in musical drama and comedy films such as Oscar winner Once, Oscar nominee Begin Again with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, and most recently, Flora And Son with Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-m.
