Search for Bryan Dobson’s permanent replacement begins as Gavin Jennings steps into the role
Gavin Jennings will take over from Bryan Dobson on the News at One as RTE seek a permanent replacement for their most famous news anchor.
Mr Jennings joined Radio One eight years ago and has previously worked on News at One, This Week, Saturday Sport, Friday Sportsnight and Take Your Point before he joined Morning Ireland in 2013.
Before becoming a broadcaster, Mr Jennings worked as an A&E doctor.
Originally from Navan, he is married to Audrey Carville who joined Radio One in 2012 and worked on Drivetime, The Late Debate and Today before landing her current role on Morning Ireland.
The couple live in Dublin and have a teenage daughter named Lucy.
Mr Dobson, who has presented all of RTÉ's flagship news programmes across television and radio during his time at the broadcaster and anchored its television coverage of elections and special state events, retired on Friday after 37 years in RTE.
