Ireland’s immigration figures: how many asylum-seekers are coming here via the Border?

Last week, Justice Minister Helen McEntee claimed 80pc of asylum-seekers are coming into the country via Northern Ireland.

The Department of Justice later said that 91pc of applications at the International Protection Office (IPO) so far this year were made there for the first time rather than at an airport or at a port.
